If you haven't read the USA Today article on Job Satisfaction that was in Monday's paper, click on the link in the header at the top of the home page and read it now!  The last sentence by Linda Barrington of the Conference Board ran true for me...

"It is two-way responsibility," she says. "Workers also have to figure out what they should be doing to be the most engaged in their jobs and the most productive."

If you want to be perceived as an asset to your organization you MUST consider ways to fully engage with your work.   Don't wait for a promotion; begin right where you are.  THAT is how you get yourself promoted.  Enthusiasm says a great deal about your level of commitment.
