Plenty of careers are stalled or stopped dead in their tracks because of missteps that send the wrong message about your skills and abilities.  It is always wise to find someone you can bounce ideas off of before you put them into motion.  Find someone you trust who has your best interest in mind and use him or her as a sounding board.  Don't go it alone!
